Elon Musk bought Twitter and is currently the CEO of the company, but is already preparing to leave the position. He spoke at the World Government summit in Dubai via video link, saying he needs to “stabilize the organisation” and “make sure he is in a financially sound place”. After that, he’ll likely find someone else to run the company, Musk added.
“I imagine later this year should be a good time to find someone else to run the business.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard the self-proclaimed free speech absolutist talk about stepping down from his top executive position, but now we have a potential timeline. According to sources speaking to Bloomberg, the billionaire is actively looking for a person to be the CEO of Twitter with the transition expected to take place towards the end of the year. Musk’s absence from Tesla is making some investors in the electric car company nervous. For his part, Musk said that Space X and Tesla require less work to operate now than they did three or five years ago.
Elon Musk called Twitter “a startup in reverse” during the video conversation with the UAE cabinet affairs minister. The social network still needs a lot of work to be “in a stable position”. He currently works seven days a week with six hours of sleep and aspires to do “only 80 hours a week”.
