Asus has finally released the stable and finalized Android 12 update for the 2020 ROG Phone 3. According to the company’s schedule, this was to be released in the first half of the year, so it has kept its promise, if only for a few. days. Asus certainly enjoyed this: Android 13 is pretty much around the corner, but only now ROG Phone 3 owners can get a taste of last year’s Android 12. This is the life of the players, presumably.

Either way, the new build is labeled 31.0210.0210.230 and comes after a beta testing period of nearly two months, so hopefully there aren’t any obvious bugs.

The update comes with everything Google has put in the Android 12 release, as well as the June 2022 security patch level. Plus, you also get an updated console design in Armory Crate, revamped Asus built-in apps, a new panel Quick settings and notification bar, a redesigned volume panel and a new widget page design in Launcher. Asus Safeguard has been replaced with Android 12’s built-in emergency SOS feature, the Quick Settings layout option has been removed from the display settings, and support for SIP calling has been removed from the Phone app.

As usual with such updates, the rollout may be gradual, so it may take a few days for all ROG Phone 3 units out there in circulation to receive theirs.
