Mark Gurman’s latest newsletter sheds more light on Apple’s upcoming cheaper version of the Vision Pro AR/VR headset. According to the analyst, the first feature to eliminate to reduce costs is the EyeSight functionality.

EyeSight functionality as it requires an external OLED display and inputs from cameras and sensors inside the earpiece, so omitting them would definitely help Apple reduce the price significantly. The company is said to be targeting a price of $1,500-2,500.

Keep in mind, however, that previous reports suggest the cheaper Vision Pro will release in 2025, while a hardware update to the existing version will likely be delayed until 2027.

The newsletter also mentions some upcoming Apple M3-based products, such as the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iPad. Gurman said Apple has completed development of all devices, but the announcement date is not yet known. It won’t be this month, though.

It is rumored, for example, that the new iPad Pro will come with an OLED display, a renewed design, a new Magic Keyboard and a faster chip.

MacBook Pros with the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips are scheduled to release in spring 2024, and mass production of the chips is quickly approaching. Unfortunately, the Airs release will take longer, probably next summer.
