Apple’s Apple Mixed Reality (MR) headset is expected to finally make an official appearance at WWDC 23 next month, and Apple is rapidly preparing. Cupertino has filed a word trademark for xrOS, the alleged operating system of its MR headphones, with the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office.

The listing is still pending approval and was filed by Deep Dive LLC, a well-known Apple shell company. The same company filed a trademark for xrOS in December. Interestingly, the new branding features the same San Francisco typeface used in Apple’s other operating systems.

As for naming, xr is short for eXtended Reality while OS stands for operating system. Apple’s MR headset has high hopes not just for Apple but for the entire VR industry, so we’ll be waiting patiently for the big announcement on June 5th.
