As of Thursday, Apple Japan has updated its pricing for all iPhone models. Some models have risen in price by up to 20%, which could reflect the weakening of the Japanese yen against the US dollar, which has lost about 15% of its value against the dollar over the past three months.

The iPhone 13 Pro, for example, is now priced at 144,800 yen (~ $ 1,066) compared to 122,800 yen (~ $ 904) for the 128GB storage option. Meanwhile, the iPhone SE Gen 3 has risen to 62,800 (~ $ 462) from 57,700 yen (~ $ 425).

Apple’s iPhone price hike doesn’t come long before Apple releases a new range of iPhones for the year, usually in September. Currently, Apple has only raised the price of its iPhones and has not yet adjusted any pricing on any other product from Apple’s Mac or iPad lines.

As the world faces inflation (and supply shortages) between nations, it is common for multinationals like Apple to adjust prices in a specific market to match the shift in strength of one currency relative to others.
