Amazon has begun rolling out the redesigned UI for its Prime Video app with the primary goal of making content searching for its users easier. And the first step in that direction is a simplified, easily accessible main navigation menu, which allows Prime Video customers to quickly browse the wide selection of movies, TV shows, sports and premium channels.

Prime Video users get easy access to titles included with Prime membership, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The new navigation menu in the living room apps has also been repositioned to the side of the screen for better access. The apps will launch with six main pages: Home, Store, Find, Live TV, Free with Ads and My Stuff. There will also be secondary navigation options if users want to browse by content or offer type.

The redesigned UI also brings a new carousel that features videos with more cinematic images, allowing the content to stand out from the rest. For example, the “Top 10 Chart” will showcase popular and trending content on Prime Video, while “Super Carousel”, with its poster-style graphics, will show featured titles such as Amazon Originals and Exclusives. Amazon says the new carousels also help provide a less demanding and overwhelming experience for its Prime Video customers.

Additionally, Amazon is making it easier for Prime Video users to identify what content is included in their Prime membership and what’s available for purchase. This is done by adding visual cues in the form of an icon with a blue check mark and a shopping bag icon. The former indicates that the content is included in the Prime subscription, while the latter tells you that the content is available for purchase, rental or subscription. You can also access all the videos included in your Prime membership by clicking on the “My Memberships” line at the top of the Home page.

The new user interface also brings some improvements to the “Find” page, which now shows suggestions in real time as you type in the search box, also using the aforementioned visual cues in the search results. You also have the option to filter the results by genre or 4K UHD.

This revamped UI is already available for Prime Video apps on Fire TV, Android, and other living room-connected devices. iOS and the web will receive it in the coming months.
