Steam Deck was originally supposed to launch in late 2021 before being delayed due to problems with the global supply chain. Now, Valve has confirmed that Steam Deck will officially launch on February 25th.

Of course, not everyone who pre-ordered this revolutionary portable system will get it that quickly. This is the first date we will see reviews thanks to the outgoing press kits. Probably the non-press will start receiving Steam Deck as early as February 28th. These are some of the lucky users who booked the system early enough to get a “Q1 2022” shipping estimate.

How will those who have foreordained know when theirs is coming? Valve will begin sending emails to users starting at 1pm ET on February 25th. Emails should be sent in the order that reservations were received, and users will only be able to order the Steam Deck model they originally reserved.

Valve will count the cost of the reservation into the overall price and quote users a price that includes shipping. But it’s critically important to check your email frequently – once Valve has sent an email to a reservation holder, that person has three days to confirm the order.

Before worrying about not receiving an email, be sure to check your booking on the official page. Many of those who make a reservation as early as possible (including yours truly) have an estimated shipping date of “Q2 2022” or later. And only those with the “Q1 2022” shipping estimate will receive units as early as February. But Valve will be sending out new emails every week, so be sure to check your inbox regularly.

Regardless of when you get your hands on the system, there is a lot to look forward to. Thanks to the recently announced Dynamic Cloud Sync feature for the Steam Cloud, users will be able to seamlessly switch between games on their desktop and Steam Deck.
