Same old same old

Since the game is largely PvE, it means that you will complete a lot of missions. And these missions have some positive and some disappointing elements.

First, the good: many of the missions don’t take themselves too seriously. The humor goes well with the aesthetics of the game and is really fun.

The Bad: While fun, most of these missions don’t exactly break the mold of MMOs. You will do a lot of fetch X-thing or kill-th-thing style missions. If you’ve ever played a single MMO in your life, you’ve already experienced what most of these “real” missions have to offer players.

The craft bet

Crafting plays an interesting part of this game. Whether this means “good interesting” or “bad interesting” depends on how much you like to bet.

Basically, you collect a few key items and throw them in a magical jar. What comes next? Your guess is as good as mine!

The idea is to keep players coming back because you never know when he’ll be spitting out something truly epic. However, since it’s completely random, you might as well get nothing but junk items for a long time, which is profoundly less fun.

I found the system to go back to fun, but it may leave you wanting a more stable build system.

Final verdict

Ultimately, Royal Quest is worth a try. It’s truly engaging to explore this detailed world, and if you stick around, it’s rewarding to join guilds and participate in things like castle sieges.

I don’t like the game’s freemium system (who does it?), But you can try it all out without paying a dime. And it costs no less than free!
