TEPPEN Beginner’s Guide: Tips and Tricks

1. Choose the correct hero

As a new player, you might think “which hero should i choose first?” or “Can I really use this hero?“, don’t worry if you have thought this way, it is normal to think of every new player in almost any game unless you are a gifted person who can adapt and play any game without difficulty from the first time you play it. But if you are a normal person like most people, you will feel anxious to choose your hero for the first time. To choose a hero in this game, there are several aspects that you will need to pay attention to and not worry about, we will discuss them all. in our TEPPEN Beginner’s Guide.

Color elements

Each character in the game has their own elements or the game is represented by colors. There are four different colors in the game. TEPPEN has undergone four expansions in its current configuration. Color-specific properties and abilities have now been shared with each other. Colors, on the other hand, continue to focus on what they do best.

If you are looking for a specific play style, choosing a color is not that important as each color has inherited abilities from the others, allowing the heroes to have different play styles. Understanding which colors are best known will help you anticipate what to expect from an enemy at the start of a game and card design when building a deck.

Red element

Red element

The red color requires explosive game skills that deal damage to opposing units on the board. Red color is associated with strong pressure and direct damage.

Green element

Green element Green element

The green color encourages you to defend your comrades by bolstering your defenses with health and shields. Green is a source of enormous danger and the use of seals to neutralize the opponent.

Purple element

Purple element

Purple encourages deception and the use of negations to undo the opponent’s actions. It is used to remove cards from the field and to stop the enemy with stops.

Black element

Black element

The black color is associated with devastation and punishment. Black is a ferocious destroyer, eliminates units on the battlefield and controls an army that survives even after death.

2. Build the perfect deck

Now you should know the color elements, you will see a lot of these color elements in the game. TEPPEN currently has a roster of 16 heroes, all famous characters from various Capcom series. Each hero in the game represents one of the four colors and has different play styles. Also, once you have chosen your hero, you will have access to three different Hero Artseach of which alters the dynamics of the deck.

First, let’s try to decide your hero. This part is quite confusing as there are a lot of heroes in the game, some people will decide which hero they already know, some people will choose a hero based on the appearance and some will read carefully and decide which hero is probably best for them, among those three methods of hero choice, there is no wrong method, but the first two are the least effective way to choose your hero. If you are confused, here is a chart to help you choose your hero.

These eight heroes I’m the starting hero you can get from the card pack. Next is deck building, to do this, you can go to the card menu and tap on the Edit card option. Once opened, you will be shown a total of 16 heroes as the base of your deck, each hero has a different element color, so you will need to build your deck based on your hero’s element color.

There will be a penalty if you put a different color in a deck, for example, you choose Nergigante’s deck, the Nergigante color element is black, then put a green color element card inside your Nergigante deck, then you will get the penalty. The penalty you get is a reduced MP amount. The decrease in MP will be like this:

  • 1 color in the deck (all in the same color element) will get a full 10 MP
  • 2 colors in the deck will be reduced by half, you will get 5 MP
  • 3 colors in the deck you will get 3 MP
  • 4 colors in the deck you will get 0 MP, which means your deck is unusable.

3. Presentation of the battle system

The battle system in TEPPEN is both simple and complicated. There is this MP system that you will need to distribute your card. MP will gradually increase to a maximum of 10 on its own.

Speaking of cards, there are two types of cards in the game that you need and need to know.

Card Unit A

the card you will deploy to fight your opponents, there are two aspects of this type of card you need to pay attention to, which are attack power and HP, attack power is symbolized by a red frame at the bottom right of the card, and directly below it, you will see a blue framed number, which is the card’s HP.

Action card

When you play a Action cardUnlike a Unit Card, it activates a special effect and then goes to the Graveyard. Action Cards can increase a unit’s attack or health, as well as add special cards to your EX Pocket. Also, playing an Action Card pauses the battle and initiates the Active Response, in which you and your opponent take turns placing Action Cards. Now let’s talk about Active response.

Active Response is activated by playing Action Cards. During the active response, the timer stops, as does the attack gauge and MP accumulation of each unit. The combat time display is replaced by a display of the remaining time during active response. Each turn lasts 10 seconds and you and your opponent play Action Cards in turn. After playing an Action Card, it will be your opponent’s turn and you will have to wait for his response.

Playing Action Cards has the same effect as playing Unit Cards in terms of MP reduction. If you don’t have an Action Card to play, you can cancel the Active Response by pressing the Cancel icon in the lower left corner of the combat screen.

While choosing a card, the active response will cease even if the remaining time reaches zero. When the Active Response is completed, the Action Cards will take effect in the order they were played, starting with the last card played. Here are some examples of how Active Response works:

In response to your opponent playing an Action Card that “deals three damage to a single enemy unit“, You play a card that applies a”shield (reduces damage taken to 0 once)“To the same unit. Since the damaging effect will not occur until after the shielding effect, the damage is prevented.

4. Order of Activation of Effects

The order in which the effects of played cards are activated is an important part of the Active Response. The effects of Action Cards are activated in the order they are played. In other words, the cards played last will take effect before the cards played first.

You can turn things around on your opponent if you pay attention to the order in which the effects will activate. Another thing you need to know about Active Response is AMP.

AMP refers to MP which can only be used during active response. Each player’s usual MP is added to their AMP when joining Active Response. Within the MP meter at the bottom of the combat screen, the AMP addition is shown in blue.

When you play an Action Card later, AMP will be consumed first, followed by standard MP when there are no more AMPs left. The advent of AMP makes it easier to play high-cost MP action cards. The AMP is not applied to the Action Card played during entry because it is added after the Active Response has been enabled. AMP disappears and can no longer be used after the active response ends.
