When the game goes live at the designated date and time, you can provide assists. The gameplay is essentially the same as in Attacking but you get specific bonus points for Assistance.

Understanding the game resources

With each launch, the game rewards us with loads of playing resources in the card slots. Let us now make a complete breakdown.

  • Cones: Every time you turn a cone, you earn experience points that help you level up. If a cone appears in all 3 slotsyou earn bonus points.
  • Construction site points: Yard points help you gain an advantage in current and playing games, helping you regain possession of the ball. However, if they they do not appear in all 3 slotsEXP points are added to your tally.
  • Power: Energy must be consumed while searching Attacks / assists. If they appear in everything 3 slots, 1x energy is added to your count. You are gifted 5 times the free energy hourly.
  • Gold: It is the base and only game currency of the game. Daily 1x gold is given as a reward for free access. Also, you can earn gold by flipping if everything 3 card slots turn out to be Gold. You can buy energy if you run out of it during a live match.
  • Helmets: Helmets are a game item that helps you block a shot if your opponent tries to score while attacking. There are just 3 slots for helmets after which it is converted to 1x Energy. Each block subtracts 1 helmet from your tally.
  • American Football: Whenever the the ellipsoidal ball appears in all 3 slots, you have a chance to beat your opponent’s defense. You just have to touch the slot where you want to place the ball. If and when your opponents run out of helmets, you have a chance to break their defense and earn Yard points that add to your advantage. It would also explain the deduction of XP from your opponent’s tally.

Furthermore, three gift boxes it may also appear in slots while looking at Attack. You can send a gift to your teammates in the form of Yard points, EXP points and Energy. We suggest that you prefer to give away Yard points as this would contribute to your team’s overall tally.

Competitions in play

Competitions are your gateway to climbing the ranks and also to take your team to a higher division. The game features all the major American football competitions taking place around the world. All competitions are free. The first competitions that have had a feature in this title are:

  • National Cup.
  • Continental bowl.
  • Champions Cup.
  • League.
  • World division (you will be matched based on your current global ranking and the division you are in).

However, you may be limited to participating in some initially, based on your show in the other competitions.

Here are some bonus tricks from us that can help you level up and split up at the same time.

1. Choose your team wisely

Initially, when you start the game for the first time, the game asks you to choose a team you want to join. You can choose to join an existing team or create your own saga by starting a new team. Starting a new team isn’t a bad idea, but you would need players who put enough time into the game every day to join your team. At the end of the day it’s all about the team. If you are to win competitions and climb Divisions, you need a solid foundation.

So, we suggest you start by joining an existing team and that too by properly reviewing their track record. Initially, only the teams of the 9th or 10th division would be displayed but you can always check their team history before joining. Try to look for teams that have a very good track record and teammates that are higher in the rankings.

You can also search for trophies (if the team has won any) by simply tapping the team ID and navigating to the Hall of Fame tab. Initial choice of an active side is better than quick shipping later. Additionally, you and your teammates should respond unanimously to remove inactive players from the team. There is no need to keep players in the team if they do not contribute to the winning cause of the team.

2. Don’t miss out on the daily rewards

Make sure you log in every day. The game rewards you with loads of free stuff Experience, Energy and Gold points every day for free. Once logged in, these resources are added to your tally. While Experience Points are very useful for leveling up, Energy helps you Attack / Aid in games and earns loads of other resources and much needed Yard Points that give you the edge in competitive play. So try to cash in on the free offers daily and not miss them.

3. Don’t skip the workout

As a beginner, you should expect to make the most of the Training section of this game. Not only would it give you an idea of the basics of the game, but it would also double your experience points in the game. It is therefore one of the checkpoints that you must visit if you want to level up quickly.

4. Attack while your opposing team is offline

As discussed above, Football Battle is all about attacking, defending, and scoring. Level up can be accelerated by participating in competitive matches. The more you play, the more experience points you earn. It is always useful to maintain a Yard point advantage in the games to be played.

Opposing team

You can only log in one day before the match goes live, and while your opposing team is offline, you can take full advantage of the situation by quickly navigating to the Play tab and constantly hitting the Attack button. Not only does it add up to your experience point count, it also adds to your Yard Point score which gives your team an advantage over the opposing team by gaining possession.

Also, you need to make sure you keep all 3 helmet slots full. When your opposing player is online, he too will try to attack. Keeping the helmet slots full ensures that at least the first 3 steps are blocked by your Defense. So your advantage won’t be given away that easily.

5. Watch as your teammates are heading towards a touchdown

Although it is a team game, only you can play a decisive role in every match. Make sure you log in immediately when the match goes live. You will be notified of the same via Push-Notifications. You will find that the Attack button has been replaced by the button Assistance button now.

Breaking the assist button essentially serves the same purpose. The game is divided into several halves, each with a duration of 2.5 minutes. To win the game, you need to capitalize on each 2.5 minute window. Keep hitting the Assist button and earn precious Yard points by passing the ball to your teammate once American football shows up in all 3 slots.

If you outgrow your opponents’ Yard points at the end of those 2.5 minutes, your team has a chance to go for a Touchdown! Each Touchdown scored adds 7 points to the count of your team and therefore even when you are not in attack, you can contribute extensively to your team by winning matches. You can also earn bonus experience points when your team scores a Touchdown which would help you level up.

6. Save your gold currencies

The only game currency in this game appears to be Gold. It can buy you Energy in exchange for it. Don’t initially spend it on Energy. Every day, when you log in, you are rewarded with 1 gold. Mathematically speaking, the chances of all 3 card slots turning out to be Gold when you flip cards are 1 in 100 flips.

So, in addition to being the only in-game currency, it is also rare to see it. Spend them tactfully. Don’t spend them when you run out of energy while attacking in a game to play or during training. Each hour rewards you with 5x energy.

Also, when you level up by collecting a certain amount of EXP, you are rewarded with 25x Energy each time. You are rewarded with Energy even when you end up on the losing side in a match. So, don’t spend the Gold currency unnecessarily. If you run out of energy, you can always come back after an hour and attack.

However, during a live match, if your energy runs out while watching, you have no choice but to go for the trade. Save your gold currencies for that situation as you can’t afford to let go of the game just for lack of energy.

Final thoughts

Miniclip never ceases to amaze us with its contents. Deviating from the trend followed by other sports games, the developers of Miniclip have transformed this American football-based game into a unique card game format. Football Battle can be extremely exciting for American football fans and fun to play for others. The only downside that can be noticed in the first few days is the energy recharge time. Energy is consumed in 5 minutes and only 5 are recharged every hour.

Initially, you may survive by not spending your gold currencies, but eventually you will have to do so in live matches if you want to win them. So, sooner or later you have to invest money in this game if you want to level up. There is no way you can earn more Gold currencies. Aside from that, it’s a fun card game to play and ultimately that’s why we play mobile games.
