As part of The Last of Us Day on September 26, fans of the franchise got a first glimpse of the upcoming The last of us series on HBO. And this image created a strong buzz among fans hoping for a faithful adaptation of their favorite game.

What’s our first look at the HBO series of “The Last of Us”?

In this case, our first look at the TV show is a single image. And the image shows Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie from behind as the two examine a crashed plane on a farm. While there isn’t much to do here, the image shows a fairly faithful reproduction of both the characters and the moody atmosphere of the game.

What will the HBO series of “The Last of Us” be about?

Adaptations are always complicated. Fans never know if a series will faithfully recreate their favorite game or book or try to create their own original narrative.

For The last of us on HBO, we know the show will mostly cover the events of the first game. While there is room for more stories and material, we should see a relatively faithful adaptation of the original game. It’s very unlikely we’ll see much (if anything) adapting the game’s sequel at this point.
