Originally, the highly anticipated Battlefield 2042 was to be released on October 22. But developer DICE has now confirmed that the game’s release has been postponed to November 19th.

The official statement, released via Twitter and other media channels, should seem familiar enough to players by now. The developers point out that the COVID-19 pandemic brought “unforeseen challenges” to game development because everyone couldn’t easily go back to the studio. Regarding the delay, they said that “we believe it is important to take the extra time to realize the Battlefield 2042 vision for our players.”

If you’re a Battlefield fan, this might look even more familiar. That’s because Battlefield 5 was similarly moved from an October release date to a November 2018 release date. Then and now, however, gamers have grudgingly accepted that a little delay is definitely worth it if it translates. in a better game.

And while the game’s delayed release is now official, there are also unconfirmed reports that the Battlefield 2042 beta will also be delayed. This news comes courtesy of Tom Henderson, an industry insider who rarely misses the mark.

Henderson says the beta has now been postponed to October 6 for Early Access players and October 8 for everyone else. While not confirmed yet, a delayed beta only makes sense given a delayed release for the full game.

Will you check the beta when it comes out? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
