The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will arrive earlier than expected: it will be presented on August 11 (one day after Samsung’s folds), according to the leakster Ice universe. Normally Xiaomi anticipates new launches weeks in advance, so this is a surprise.

The date is probably not a coincidence: Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun will hold his third annual conference on the 11th. “I want to talk about something different: Everyone experiences setbacks and failures in the growth process, how I got out of depression in life and what life insights I gained,” wrote the CEO.

Anyway, several leaksters including Ice And Digital chat station noticed a screenshot from Lao Wei, Xiaomi’s Mobile Product Manager, which presumably comes from the Mix Fold 2.

It has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,520 pixels, which confirms the 21: 9 aspect ratio for the phone cover display. For comparison, the lid display of the original Mi Mix Fold had a lanky 27: 9 aspect ratio.

Also, that display had a 90Hz refresh rate, while the new one will go up to 120Hz (according to rumors). This should mean that the internal display will have a 10.3: 9 aspect ratio (instead of 4: 3 like on its predecessor).

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage. It will support 56W fast charging (like the original). It may not be the only new phone on Thursday as there were also leaks of the Xiaomi K50S Pro, Xiaomi’s first phone with a 200MP camera.
