It is not an easy time for retirees: the economic crisis is turning back, with devastating effects, on the most fragile subjects. And it is for this reason that, among the concessions for the over 70s, the Government has also included that of the new TV decoders.

The digital revolution which also involves the television world I play strength, foreseeing new standards for broadcasting and viewing programs must travel hand in hand with the technological one.

And that’s why the government has put one in place extraordinary form of concessions to allow citizens, in particular those with less financial resources, in this case the elderly people gripped by a crisis that does not grant respite to those who had already struggled before, to take advantage of new appliances, in this case the decoders, functional to receive correctly the renewed signals free of charge.

The 70-year-old Italians, at least a good average of them, especially women, the statistics say, have a very strong relationship with television. Certain daily programs become “life companions”.

It is inevitable, in the context of the resources and programs to be allocated to that social segment most in need, that the Government has not even thought, in such a difficult moment, where every little expense is a new blow of cleaver to even offer the new devices free of charge, those that allow you to receive the new signal appropriately. Doing so allows for a small savings on an expense that would have been inevitable for families.

Technological and digital revolution of the television world: this is how the government supports the weakest groups

First, the amendment originally provided for a refinancing of 68 million euros for the facilitation in view of the switch off to DVB-T2. But it was not the only novelty, because with the provision the Government wanted not only to support the economically weaker groups, but also to help less experienced age groups i.e. those over 70, to allow them to continue to access a service as mentioned essential.

In this case, those over 70 with iPension allowance below the threshold of 20 thousand euros per year: they can still receive a directly at home DVB-T2 decoder with a maximum value of 30 euros. This novelty is possible thanks to the agreement signed by the Ministry of Economic Development with Poste Italiane. They will still be the courier in charge of delivery, in this sense, here is the suitable path to take to receive it.

When it comes to adapting to the new television system, there are inevitably two ways to go: either you buy a new TV integrated with the new signal, or you enter a decoder adapting old appliances. Of course, for many, the price of a new TV becomes prohibitive.
