Contrary to many products in their lifecycle, Nothing Ear (1) will receive a 50% price increase at the end of this month. Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced today via a tweet that Ear (1) will retail for $ 149 starting October 26. Pei also called the Ear (1) a “completely different product” from when it was launched and confirmed that there are nearly 600,000 units sold worldwide.
The price hike is justified by Pei with increased development efforts, including hiring more than 180 engineers to work for Nothing after Ear (1) was launched. Rising inflation levels and weakening sterling also played a likely role in raising the prices of the UK-based company’s first consumer product.
