The latest Nintendo Switch update finally adds Bluetooth support to the system. This allows gamers to conveniently stream their audio to Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth speaker.

Many gamers were shocked that the system didn’t boot with Bluetooth support. Now, it’s shocking that it took Nintendo so long to add this long-awaited feature. Fortunately, Nintendo has added a helpful support page that walks you through how to set up Bluetooth for your console.

For the most part, Bluetooth on the Switch is pretty intuitive. You simply have to pair the headphones or speaker to the system and then it should automatically connect when your Bluetooth device is in range. If you have any problems, however, you can always return to the System menu to pair the headset or device again.

Unfortunately, this Bluetooth functionality has some annoying limitations. For example, you cannot use more than two controllers while using Bluetooth. And the Bluetooth turns off when using local communication and cannot be used as a microphone at all. Finally, while you can add up to 10 Bluetooth devices to your system, you can only stream audio to one at a time.

While the limitations are annoying, most fans are just happy to finally have this level of audio support. And we can’t help but wonder if the Switch’s next OLED model will receive superior audio upgrades in the future over the original model.
