The Black Shark 5 series is about to go on a world tour: the vanilla model and the Pro will be available from tomorrow in several online stores. The core model, the RS, is not part of this launch.

The Black Shark 5 Pro and the vanilla model are quite similar. Both have 6.67-inch 144Hz AMOLED displays (FHD +, Samsung E4) with 720Hz touch sample rate and magnetic pop-up triggers, both have stereo speakers.

The two use the same batteries with a capacity of 4,650 mAh and a fast charge of 120 W (0-100% in 15 minutes or in 24 minutes in battery saving mode). The batteries are rated at 1,200 charge cycles and support battery bypass (i.e. using external power while gaming).

Both also have Snapdragon chipsets. The difference is that the Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as well as faster RAM (6,400 MHz vs 5,500 MHz). The vanilla Black Shark 5 uses the Snapdragon 870 instead. Both phones launch with JoyUI 13 (based on Android 12).

Another small difference between the phones, which we left for last as it doesn’t impact games at all: the cameras. The Pro has a 108 MP (1 / 1.52 “, 0.7 µm sensor) main camera, while the Vanilla model has a 64 MP (0.7 µm) sensor. The Pro also has a better macro camera , tele-macro from 5 MP vs 2 MP with normal optics.
Along with phones, the Black Shark JoyBuds Pro are also going global. These TWS earbuds have a low-latency game mode (40ms), 30 hours of total playback (also fast charging, 15 minutes of charging = 3 hours of playback) and IPX4 water resistance.
These are based on the Snapdragon Sound platform and support aptX Adaptive for high quality audio. They have 12mm drivers and adaptive ANC (40dB noise reduction) which features modes such as wind reduction. The JoyBuds Pro will retail for $ 80 / € 80.
