A new mechanic that Payback brings is something called Sidebets. These allow you to bet in-game currency on races. They don’t even just win a race. This is not enough to redeem what is, after all, an insignificant game. While running isn’t bad, everything else fails to stick to your mind or leave a lasting impression.

Payback simply doesn’t have that essence that made the Need for Speed ​​franchise so popular more than a decade ago. It might be better for EA to stop trying to find it for now.
