With all the title titles on theatrical releases having been postponed lately, here comes the news of a movie coming early for a change. Sony has announced that the reboot of the “Resident Evil” movie will be released on September 3 for Labor Day Weekend, a week before the previously announced date of September 9.

The film, set on a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998, is written and directed by Johannes Roberts (“47 Meters Down”).

“It will be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just going back to the roots of the game, ”Roberts said in an interview with Screen Rant.

The cast includes Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia and Neal McDonough.

Shooting would finish in December.

Meanwhile, the next game in the series, Resident Evil Village, will be released on May 7th.

An animated series called “Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness” is coming to Netflix this year.
