The PlayStation VR2 was announced a year ago for the PS5 and we’ve already seen what the controllers will look like. Now, Sony has revealed its first look at the headphones via the PlayStation Blog.

Visually, the PSVR2 headset looks a lot like its predecessor, down to the curved lines and monochromatic aesthetics. But the new set is lighter, the vents have been redesigned, and there are some nice improvements like a dial that lets you adjust the lens.

The internal specifications of the new headset are a serious improvement over the original. This includes eye tracking, 4K HDR, 110 degree FOV, haptic feedback, 90 / 120Hz frame rate, and more. And you can connect everything to your PS5 with a USB-C cable, which is great news for gamers who hated having to deal with all those cables on the original.

We still don’t know the exact release date of this new headset or what its price will be. But we know it has great competition. While the original PSVR was an affordable entry-level VR experience, the new system has to compete with things like Oculus Quest 2 and Valve Index. And as virtual reality has become more common, audience expectations for PSVR2 will be much higher.
