Xiaomi released the Mix Fold 3 on August 14, followed by the flagship Redmi K60 Ultra a day later. The first sale took place yesterday and the company has announced that it has been a huge success.

Sales of Mix Fold 3 units were 2.25 times higher than Mix Fold 2 over last year, though the company hasn’t disclosed actual numbers. Instead, it did on Redmi: 220,000 units sold in just five minutes.

Looking back on 2022, the Mix Fold 2 has also been called a success, with all devices selling out in five minutes, but again Xiaomi has not disclosed the actual amount. The numbers could be anywhere between 100 and 1,000 or even more – we can speculate all day, but the truth is that the Mix Fold 3 has indeed outperformed its predecessor by a margin.

After all, it’s thinner, lighter, with more improved cameras and a bigger battery. Sadly, fans around the world are missing out on all these great features because the Mix Fold 3 will stay in China.

The domestic success of the Redmi K60 Ultra could be a harbinger of what the Xiaomi 13T series could bring. We’ve already seen how the Redmi K50 Ultra got an upgrade in the camera department when it was relaunched as the Xiaomi 12T Pro, and we can only wonder if a similar thing will happen this fall.

A report has suggested that Xiaomi is planning a 13T launch on September 1, and given how the Berlin IFA is taking place at the same time, we could see an event in the German capital.
