Tecno presented its first laptop at IFA, now the company is launching something more premium – the Tecno MegaBook S1. This laptop is super thin and light, measuring 0.53″ (13.5mm) thick and weighing 2.97lbs (1.35kg). It’s very small for a 15.6″ laptop, but the aluminum frame magnesium alloy makes the body sturdy.
The 15.6-inch display has a 3.2K resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This is a high-quality panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB coverage. It’s bright enough for a laptop too, hitting 450 nits, and offers a flicker-free experience with DC dimming.
The MegaBook T1 from a few months ago was powered by an 11th generation Intel processor. The S1 upgrades to a 12th generation Core i7 (35W TDP) with dual fan cooling. For storage, you can choose between 512GB and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs, RAM is 16GB in both cases (LPDDR5).
Despite its low weight, the laptop is equipped with a large 70Whr battery. For charging, it uses one of its two USB-C ports and the included 65W GaN charger. Additionally, there are two USB-A ports, a full-size HDMI, a 3.5mm jack, and a microSD card reader.
The MegaBook S1 comes with Windows 11 out of the box as well as some special Tecno features. For example, there is NFC, which allows you to quickly pair your Tecno phone and view its screen on the laptop display using the OneLeap feature.
The sharp and color accurate display promises a great multimedia experience and the speakers bear it out: Tecno managed to fit 6 speakers and added DTS:X Ultra support. There are two microphones on board with AI-based noise cancellation for calls. The built-in webcam is also equipped with artificial intelligence, it can detect when someone is looking over your shoulder and will blank the screen.
The Tecno MegaBook S1 will arrive in select markets in two configurations: 512GB of storage for $1,500 and 1TB of storage for $1,600 (i.e. €1,425 / ₹123,500 and €1,520 / ₹131,500, respectively).
