introduction

Although we can all look to this or that Galaxy S as the Samsung phone par excellence, the truth is that the A series has always been the workhorse of the Korean company: the backbone, from a sales point of view. And the A5x model every year has been the Samsung’s best-selling – not the S Ultra model, not even the flagship S “vanilla” or its big brother.

So, in a way, you don’t get more SAMSUNG compared to an A5x, which means it’s the Samsung experience that most people actually get. For a plurality of users, a Series A device is their only insight into what a Samsung phone looks like, and this obviously comes with pros and cons. The latest in the best-selling part of the A-line is the A53, but the coolest A5x ever is definitely the A52. And that is why we have decided to review it in the long term.

Long-term review of the Samsung Galaxy A52

Before the A52s, the A5x model of the day was always underpowered, even for a mid-range smartphone, considering its launch price. Obviously many people put up with it, both because it was a Samsung, and because of the generally better-than-average cameras, and because of the ease of buying one just about anywhere, and because of the software support that has improved over and over in recent years. But quickly, these devices definitely weren’t. Most of the Chinese competitors had a similarly priced offer with a better chipset.

And that all changed with the launch of the Galaxy A52 last year. For the first time, an A5x was equipped with a premium mid-range SoC, the Snapdragon 778G, and the Chinese competition didn’t really have an answer, as their better alternatives used exactly the same chip. This has been exciting for many, apparently, judging by the levels of interest we’ve seen in this phone since its release.

And then it got cheaper. It’s cheaper. And at its current price point, it not only competes very well in its spec space, but price too. This is practically unheard of for a mid-range Samsung, and so we have here a very intriguing package that we couldn’t help but use for a long time as our one and only smartphone, wanting to understand if Samsung has nailed a road. to secure its mid-range sales against very aggressive Chinese competitors.

Long-term review of the Samsung Galaxy A52

2022 was an odd year for the mid-range, with most of the 2021 device successors not actually outpacing them in many ways. We bet the Galaxy A53 is exactly in this field, so perhaps it is best to think of the A73 as the true successor of the A52, even if this also brings no updates in the chipset area.

So it looks like Samsung may play name confusion games as well as other companies. We won’t be celebrating it in any way, but we’ll try to reveal to you if the A52 is still a great mid-range buy at this point. It has had a long time to mature, so to speak, so it should be the perfect time for a long-term review. Let’s begin.
