Health sensors are constantly evolving and appearing on various products, from smartphones to smartwatches and, more recently, to wireless headsets. A fairly recent rumor has suggested that Apple’s upcoming AirPods Pro 2 may include a built-in heart rate and body temperature sensor, but now Bloomberg Mark Gurman is contradicting such claims. Gurman confirms that Apple is likely testing both health sensors internally on prototype AirPods, but neither feature is ready to hit consumer versions in 2022.

In related news, Gurman is confident that Apple Watch Series 8 will bring body temperature monitoring. The feature is currently undergoing internal testing and is very likely to arrive on all Series 8 Watch models. Gurman also confirms rumors about a rugged edition Series 8 watch that will be aimed at extreme sports athletes.

Additionally, DSCC’s Ross Young specifies that the Watch Series 8 display will measure 1.99 inches diagonally, compared to the 1.9-inch panel on the 45mm Series 7 variant.
