Apple usually releases its new iPadOS alongside the corresponding iOS version, but this year that wasn’t the case. While iOS 16 has been out for over a month, iPadOS 16 is not yet finalized for a consumer version but Bloomberg’s. Mark Gurman states that we can expect the stable release of iPadOS 16.1 on October 24th. Apple previously confirmed that it will skip iPadOS 16 and directly release iPadOS 16.1 to users.

Apple hasn’t confirmed the release date yet, but Gurman expects it to happen soon and believes Cupertino will follow its strategy of releasing new products and firmware updates in the week of its earnings report. Apple’s fourth quarter 2022 earnings report is scheduled for October 27 at 2:00 p.m. PST. While iPadOS 16.1 will finally make its long-awaited debut, we may also see new hardware announcements with a new entry-level iPad alongside the M2 iPad Pro models and the new MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max.
