This year will mark the sixth time Niantic has “treated” players to a Halloween event for Pokémon Go. And now, the developer has revealed all the cool things players can expect during this spooky season.

When does the Halloween event start?

Ready to start this scary party? Good news: The Pokémon Go event kicks off on Friday, October 15th. And this “Halloween Mischief” event has a lot of great features for players.

What’s new with the Halloween event?

It is one thing to organize a Halloween event and quite another to have something that players can look forward to. Fortunately, there are two main parts of the event: Creepy Companions and Ghoulish Pals. During the event, players can expect to receive 2 candies when they catch, hatch, or transfer Pokémon. And when you walk with your chosen friend during the event, you are sure to have Candy XL.

Measurement is important

The biggest news (literally) to the event is about the size of the Pokémon. You will be able to encounter Pokémon Pumpkaboo which then evolve into Gourgeist. However, there are more sized Pumpkaboo out there, and the bigger you catch, the bigger the Gourgeist you can evolve into. While this isn’t confirmed, some players are hoping there will be a similar mechanic to change the size of other Pokemon as well.

Other special features

What else can players expect? First, there will be a special Collection Challenge that involves the hunt for elusive Ghost-type Pokémon. By the way, you’ll see more scary Pokémon during the event, including Dark, Ghost, and Psychic-type Pokémon.

You can also expect the return of some Pokémon, including Phantump and Trevenant. You will also be able to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking and encounter Mega Absol during Mega Raids.

Do you want a real “gem” to play? If so, be sure to grab the Shiny Spinarak available for the first time during this event.

Finally, there’s a surprise for longtime fans of the franchise: if you play Pokémon Go at night, you’ll hear Lavender Town’s music in the background. Just make sure you don’t read any Lavender Town creepypasta stories before bed!
