For PS5 and Xbox Series X | S owners, the wait is over: the next generation update to Cyberpunk 2077 is here. It launches alongside the long-awaited patch 1.5 and a free trial that lets you play for five hours.

This news comes to us courtesy of today’s CD Projekt Red livestream where the developers showed what the next generation update looks and sounds like:

What can next generation gamers expect to see? Graphically, the game now has features like ray tracing, 4K resolution, dynamic scaling, and other major improvements. And if you play on PS5, you’ll experience haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and special audio features via the DualSense controller.

When it comes to the look of the game, different consoles offer players different options. For example, those playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X can choose between a ray-tracing mode and a performance mode. Unfortunately, the Xbox Series S version offers no options to gamers, so you have to play at 0 FPS at 1440p using dynamic resolution scaling.

Achievements and trophies are also implemented differently in systems. If you previously had achievements unlocked on the Xbox version of this game, your system’s intelligent delivery system will carry over those new achievements to the next generation version. Unfortunately, previously unlocked trophies on the PS4 version of the game will not carry over to the PS5 version.

Other assorted fixes include better render quality, fewer FPS dips, and better HDR. The next generation versions of the game now have Spanish voiceover support and the PS5 version has timesheets.

Veteran players may want to return to try out other gameplay improvements. For example, the character customization has improved and you can change the characteristics every time you use a mirror in a shelter. And once the Playing for Time mission is complete, you can pay a one-time fee to rent an apartment in Night City or when using the EZEstates website at V’s Megabuilding H10 apartment. This gives you a safe and convenient place to store various gear and loot.

Speaking of gear, the game has added new weapon accessories, two new weapons, and four new weapon scopes. The perk tree has been rebalanced and the existing perks have been restored. And don’t forget to check out the new poses in photo mode!

The AI has received a general overhaul that improves combat and NPC guidance. And many of the problems the game has become famous for have been solved. This may be enough to attract players concerned about the game’s increasingly negative reputation after it is released.

If you would like to try the game without any commitment, a free trial is available between now and March 15th. It allows you to play five hours of gameplay. At that point, you are given the option to purchase the full game and all your progress will carry over.

Will you go back to Cyberpunk 2077 or will you check it out for the first time? Let us know in the comments!
