YouTube has experimented with limiting access to 4K content to its Premium users, but the company has confirmed that this trial is now over and “disabled”. The platform revealed on Twitter that everyone should be able to access 4K quality with no restrictions and no fancy subscriptions.

Reports of users seeing “Premium” next to the 2160p switch in their YouTube app surfaced last month. Only a handful of users reported this, suggesting that it was simply an A / B test of the company.

It is not clear what the results of the experiment were, but it is good that YouTube has decided to withdraw and cancel it. A tweet in Japanese earlier this month revealed that YouTube is looking for feedback on the feature, which means it’s not completely abandoned yet.
