Some tips:
Main enemy is darkness, your journey will be harder if you break lights.

Near the beggining of each level you can find a small pretty uninformative map. Try to remember it - you can't take it with you. )))
Sometimes run is the best solution.
Jumping into darkness is not.
Shooting enemies steals your health, get their souls or find useful powerups to restore it.
Shooting while facing walls is a nice trick.
