Oppo has released the Reno8 T and Reno8 T 5G midrangers without much fanfare. The devices were simply uploaded to the Vietnamese version of the website and the online retailers followed their price lists.

The LTE-only smartphone has a Mediatek chipset and a 100MP camera, while the 5G version has a Qualcomm chip and a 108MP main shooter.

This smartphone carries a 6.43-inch AMOLED with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a Full HD+ resolution. It also has a touch sampling rate of up to 180Hz and a Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The selfie camera is 32MP and is located in the upper left corner behind a punch hole.

Speaking of cameras, there are three on the back. Oppo hasn’t told us which sensor is used for the 100MP shooter, which we believe is an industry first. The other two shooters are a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro cam. There’s a ring light around the main camera that can act as a notification light, and it’s quite customizable.

Inside we have a Helio G99 chipset and a memory option: 8/256GB. There is a micro SD slot for additional storage and Oppo also offers some RAM expansion options. The Reno8 T comes with a 5,000mAh battery and SuperVOOC fast charging. The company hasn’t said exactly what the rate is, so we’re guessing it’s as low as possible for this brand: 33W.

This midranger is far more exciting, and not because it’s 5G: Vietnam is still experimenting with its next-generation connectivity and isn’t expected to be widely rolled out in the foreseeable future due to infrastructure limitations. The phone has a more powerful chipset, a bigger and better screen, faster charging and more powerful cameras.

The Reno8 T 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 695 and comes with 8GB of RAM. Like its 4G sibling, the memory is also expandable with a switch in the Color OS settings menu.

The battery is 4,800mAh and it also comes with SuperVOOC, but this time Oppo has revealed fast charging: it’s 67W with the adapter provided in the box.

The Reno8 T 5G being powered by a Qualcomm chip means it has all the Bluetooth audio codecs needed for wireless earphones because it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack. Oppo is launching the phone with ColorOS 13 out of the box.
