Baked feta, quick and easy recipe of the Greek dish par excellence

Have you ever tried baked Feta? Combine this Greek cheese with cherry tomatoes, black olives, shallots and oregano, for a riot of flavors that lead directly to the sea in summer. A vegetarian second course, typical of trattorias in Greece, really tasty and with the unmistakable flavors of the Mediterranean. Accompany the baked Feta with classic toasted bread or with Pita. Preparing it is quick and easy: all you need is a pan and the oven to obtain a delicious dish, which can also be presented as an appetizer. Here is the recipe for baked Feta.

Ingredients for 2 people

  • Feta: 500 g (2 pieces of 250 g)
  • Cherry tomatoes: 200 g
  • Shallot: 4
  • Black olives: 200 g
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: to taste
  • Salt up: to taste
  • Oregano: to taste
  • Preparation: 10 minutes
  • Cooking: 1 hour
  • Total: 1 hour, 10 minutes

Preparation

1

To prepare the Feta in the oven, start by brushing the pan with extra virgin olive oil, using a silicone cooking brush.

2

Wash the cherry tomatoes well under running water, cut them in half and set them aside.

3

Switch to the shallot: remove the outer skin and cut each into thin slices. Set it aside.

4

Switch to the composition of the pan: pour the chopped tomatoes on the bottom and also pour the shallot. Distribute them so as to cover the entire base of the pan. Add the fine salt and 4 tablespoons of EVO oil.

5

Also add the pitted olives and place the two slices of Feta on top of the bed of ingredients. Dress them with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and oregano and cook in a preheated static oven at 180 ° C for 1 hour. Finally, serve still hot.

Accessories

  • A baking sheet
  • A silicone kitchen brush

Tips and tricks

  • Preparing Feta in the oven is really easy and fast. The important thing is to be careful to create a layer of cherry tomatoes, onions and olives underneath the slices of cheese. This is because, if the feta were in direct contact with the pan, it would risk burning and sticking to the bottom, ruining the recipe.
  • For a more intense contrast with the acidity of the Feta there are also those who sprinkle the slices of Greek cheese with some honey, just before putting it in the oven. To try!
  • As an alternative to the classic large pan, you could prepare the Feta baked in the oven single portions cooking it in the nice small cocotte.
  • When cooked, you could also grate some Parmesan on the surface to form a delicious flavorful crust.

storage

Store the baked Feta in the refrigerator, closed in an airtight container, and consume it within 3 days to the utmost. We do not recommend freezing.
